Here is the demo of my yoshi game. Unforturnatly it is a little incomplete, but its still a pretty big game. The game was made in 2.48 and when you play it in 2.49 there is a few glitches. The eggs dont follow him correctly, he falls though floors easy, and there is centering with parenting issues,(in the intro the blue blender dot is off center). But like i said it still is a big game. i also put some test levels in the end when you beat it. I kinda rushed it in the end. whatever here you guys go have fun and enjoy. If you guys like it maybe i,ll and the levels i wanted to make originally. Thanks.
It downloaded fine when i tried it on my laptop. The only thing was that it was running a 6 fps, and the game is made for using glsl. In the cpu i made it in it ran a 30 fps sometimes 20 fps, but my cpu is pretty good. This is my first blender game by the way, i wanst familiar with all the technical issues i was going to encounter so i kinda stuffed things in. Its a blend file so it could be taken apart. Also when and if you decide to beat the game there is two more test levels after the credits, you can also select them in the scenes. I just thought it would be cooler if you played it from start to finish that way you get to see the intro and stuff. Oh yea i was also practicing with some bee characters and a bullet bill character the bees are in scene Level 2 layer 6 and the bullet bill is in scene Level 1 layer 7 or 8.
Sorry for the file size guys. To tell you the truth i didnt realize the size. Looking back at it i noticed that the textures are duplicated, i didnt know i was coping them. If that is not the case then can someone please tell me why?
Those screen shots are amazing! Looks like nintendo is at it again, but NO it is just you. Amazing modeling there. but my computer doesn’t like the game engine, so sadly I cant play.
Wow, you certainly put a lot of effort into this! I encourage you to keep it up.
And now for the critique
I suggest putting whatever else you are working (game related) aside for the moment and focusing entirely on player control and animation. The Mario/yoshi games have always been a standard on amazing player control. I really wish you’d use that as inspiration in your own project.
That was the main point that kept pushing me out of the game (mentally, not literally). The game looked and sounded nice, but I felt very detached from the player. It was hard to enjoy the experience.
The jumping was especially frustrating, like he was jumping twice and inexplicably high. Yoshi needs some more lively animations as well. Something to really signal to me that he’s doing his best to get where I want him to go. Maybe move a little bit quicker as well.
The controls made me wish that this wasn’t a an open world 3D game, but a focused 2.5D, platformer game. These feelings were very much inspired by your beautiful opening sequence.
hi it looks great from the textures and i saw some videos on youtube and i think that this is the same game
but what might be the problem with so much mb i have a idea but tell me if this isent true are you using .wave sounds thats get me alot of trouble with mb mp3 is a smaller size then wave what normaly is 5 mb on mp3 is in wave around 30 mb
but tell me if this is the problem or not i did not download it but im gonna;)
yea sorry it is very glitchy, it was kinda my first game in blender. i’m thinking of remaking it from scratch. Since it isnt an exe file try loading it from a different scene. All the levels are broken up like that.
i recently tried to play it and i noticed that in the first level it doesnt let you swim like it did when i made the game. i really want to remake it but i want to wait till 2.5 comes out. i’m going to start a new thread for this game in the team projects to see if anyone wants to help me make a new version of the game. In my opinion it was a awsome game and had so much potential, as when it was made in 2.48 it ran great. The fact that it was actually had a begining and end was what i thought set it apart from other BA games. I hope to get some people in the community to help with this project.
