Whew, finally Iām ready to present the voting lists for the Best of Blender Artists 2024. Iām sorry for the delay - preparing this is a lot of work and at times I didnāt really have the energy to do it.
Changes this year
I made a few changes to make things easier on myself:
An artwork can only participate in one category. If it has multiple tags, only the category where it ranks highest will be considered.
An artist can only appear twice in each category. Some categories were dominated by one or two artists, making things a little boring.
Only artworks with 10 likes or more are included. As a result, some categories will have fewer than 30 entries to vote for.
Get ready to vote!
You can now cast your vote for your favorite artwork in 13 different categories. This is a big deal for the nominated artists, so please take some time to help us pick the winners!
For each category, we selected the nominees by going through the ātopā view of each tag for the last year, and entered the 30 most popular works. To prevent bias, theyāre presented in random order.
Iām just wondering why some works have ended up in the animations topic, even though they only contain turnarounds and no real animations? For example Pickle Rick, the model and shading and such are great but a light camera and particle movements are not something I would call animation. or number 5- Looking for Something has only a single rendered frame, where does that fit into animation?
Because theyāre tagged animation - weāve spent the last week going through and trying to make sure everything is tagged correctly, but thereās thousands of artworks and a small handful of us, so stuff slips through
I just want to say man, I remember seeing this project months ago and itās a damn work of art. Regardless of how the vote turns out, you got a win in my book.
Hey everyone! The votes are now closed and Iāll crunch the data, do a sweep for suspicuous/fraudulent votes and then compile the results. I hope to have the final results available within a few days
From my observation there are no results besides some people still gaining votes despite the voting ending many many days ago without any explanation of whatās happening.
No. People ARE gaining votes. I commented it 5 days ago and I saw it happen again today. Please look at it from the backend. Even my work got 2 votes after votings were closed. Some even got 4-6 votes. It is making me lose trust on the whole awards process.
Iām sorry to contradict you, but youāre wrong. No votes have been cast since the voting closed. I checked, but I didnāt need to -thereās no possible way to do so. It would require physical, admin-level access to the machine running this Discourse instance, as well as admin-level access to the database, which is encrypted, so youāre looking at at least two passwords, physical access, and an SSH key.
There are two things you might be seeing: one; stale data from your cache, and two; Bart has removed a few votes here and there that seemed fraudulent. Again, and I cannot emphasize this enough, no votes have been added.
