This is my first post so hi everone. May I ask for some pointers on how to create good looking fur? I’ve watched many tutorials on hair rendering in cycles, tried many different approaches and still I have nothing. I’ve got to be doing something wrong. Here are two images I’ve rendered, yes I know, not only it’s unfinished but overall the whole thing is absolutely hideous. So I appologize, I’m a complete beginner that’s the best I can do. Regardless, I’d greatly appreciate if you could share some learning materials I could watch/read that would help me improve and hopefully fix this model. Honest critique is also welcome. Thank you

Really man, as far as I can tell from the two renders shown, youre doingreat for an “complete beginner”. Really wouldnt call this "absoluteley hideous" at all. Itd probably benefit from a bit more detail on the legs and maybe elsewhere (depends on what youre going for), but the general modeling seems spot on. Cant share any insight about fur, unfortunateley, last time I tried such was years ago and before the advent of Cycles even.

Hi keewee, now I’m very curious, what you feel is off concerning the fur. Because, like Kologe, I’d say it is great already. How many particle systems do you use for the fur currently? For fur the best results can be achieved by using more than one particle system. A second particle system with longer and thicker hairs of another brighter and grayish color can be used as a kind of overlay. A bit more clumping could work also.
