Young Engineer *WIP*

Hey All.
It’s been a while since I’ve done any realism, so my skills have degraded quite a bit!
Perhaps getting back into the trade wasn’t so wise with a 6" X 8" sketch pad, which I usually do my portraits in. It was SO HARD to shade some parts of this – I had to use a crappy mechanical pencil at times.
The part you see here is only 1/4 of the whole paper, meaning approximately 3" X 4". It took me SO LONG to do – 4 hours, I think, and I still need to fix it up when I do the rest of it.
I’m giving it a rest now for fear of making it any uglier than it already is. Dear god, the subject depicted will surely kill me! D:
Done in graphite and charcoal. I couldn’t fix the scanner to reduce the glare.
C&C very welcome, as always

wow, that’s really good! Is that you?

the subject depicted will surely kill me!

Cativo, I don’t think it’s a self-portrait. He surely wouldn’t commit suicide because of it
But I agree it looks very good, so no need for bloodshed.

Looking good sno4wy. far better than I can do. only thing i’d crit is his mouth … looks a little off. unless he’s chewing.

(BTW, guys… i dont think its a self-portrait… correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe sno4wy’s a she.)

well send us a photo of the original person then i can crit it :stuck_out_tongue:

i have done a lot of life drawing (never the face only…well once) and i know that even though to others the image looks good, to the artist who can compare it to the original it might look totally crazy.

to me it looks fantastic, but then again the real comparison is to the original :stuck_out_tongue:

keep it up

p.s. i think i need to get back into some real life art
