YouTube/Google Censorship

I find this rather interesting, YouTube/Google has a way of fixing views of certain videos so that they won’t be on the front page.

This is an Alex Jones video disscussing it ( and the BA crowd moans and sighs), I know a lot of you guys hate him, but love him or hate him, there is something interesting about this video.

When you watch the video, notice how there’s only 20,108 views, it’s a fixed number, there are actually many more views, but they have it fixed so that it won’t show up on the front page.

I wonder how much of the internet will be censored soon, it’s already begining.
These are some strange days, plus does anyone know what that freakin awesome music is? I love that and would like to get a copy of the soundtrack.

Check it out though:

I already knew that Youtube does that. They have done it several times, the most notable time they did it last was when they stopped videos of the Scientology protests from reaching the front page. Google owns it, they can do whatever they want. To be honest, that stuff doesn’t really belong on the front page either. Everyone doesn’t want to hear about the latest conspiracy theories all the time.

But maybe they do. Who is Google or one person to decide what people do or don’t want to hear or see?

-Jimmy

Google censors stuff. I don’t know if it’s still true, but there was a time when their database did not include anti-institutional pages. (For example, an anti-Scientologist page would not be included in the index.) And, of course, in China Google censors tons of stuff, at the request of the Chinese government.

Youtube and Google I’m fine with censoring information (if you had a website and it had user submitted media you didn’t like, wouldn’t you do the same?) but internet providers censoring web sites is just wrong. The same with governments, it just shouldn’t happen!

The music sounds like a loop of trailer music…specifically it sounds like Gothic Power or one of the other tracks on Immediate Music’s albums. Though you can’t actually buy the album as a stand alone person, it being reserved for big budget productions, I’m sure you could get it from your favorite fruit flavored wires.

Only the individual can decide what they do or do not WANT to hear or see.

Your question has no relevance as Google does not decide what people WANT to see.

Having said that… Google is, in fact, the owner of the service and can, in fact, decide what people do or don’t actually see (via their service). And rightly so. If not the service owners, then who I ask, should make those decisions? You? Me? The government?

…the answer to all of those by the way is: No.

Lol, sigh.

A part of me thinks that this thing called freedom is dying, part of me thinks it never really existed to begin with. If freedom is only relative, is it really freedom?

But maybe they do. Who is Google or one person to decide what people do or don’t want to hear or see?

-Jimmy
Google has enough money to buy an entire country. People with less have decided what men do and don’t do, what men hear and don’t hear, why would Google be any different.

On a side note, I hate when video purposely uses music to manipulate you. While I’m disgusted that this clips is being censored…

NEVER SHOW ME A VIDEO LIKE THAT AGAIN:ba:

Unfortunately true.

Screw Youtube anyway. Millions of Videos. Millions of other peoples content. What share are they getting?

Freedom only dies when you let it (or give it away).

Most people these days don’t even want Freedom. Some would rather have security and others wish to be free from personal responsibility (and the consequences thereof).

And if there are poorer trades out there I’ll be damned if I know what those might be.

Google has always been a mix of technology and ideology. Unless a search engine really has a small staff, I think that intervention is the rule.

When I checked it just before posting this, the number was 20,108. However, those numbers are never updated in real time. I would bet that if you check it tomorrow, it will be updated. However, I know as a matter of fact that some of their other stuff is skewed.
For instance, I’ve seen hugely popular sites not showing a believable number of backlinks. Backlinks are links to a site from significant pages on the Web. For example you could enter ‘link:blenderartists.org’ on Google.

I wish Google would simply delete any X-rated videos on YouTube, the site can be a minefield pocked with them in corners. It’s rediculous, I don’t want even one video with X-rated content showing up on a search for Sonic the Hedgehog or Super Mario Bros.

They should censor the sites of stuff like that.

NEVER SHOW ME A VIDEO LIKE THAT AGAIN :BA:

Lol, I didn’t you had a choice and you chose to see it lol.

Even without the music, I think it would still have the same effect, the music just sounds cool. It’s about the same thing as when someone uses music in there demoreel.

-Jimmy

Lol, sorry your getting 8bit pr0n CD.

The thing is, is you can choose (on Google search engine) what level of filtering you want, even though stuff will slip through, but the thing is, on YouTube they don’t allow nudity and they delete that stuff (from what I last heard).

-Jimmy

You showed by posting the link. I took a look. I feel as though my trust has been betrayed. I can never forgive you!

I personally think that without the music, it would just be a guy needlessly shouting. I would be annoyed, but I wouldn’t feel the urge to cut him off.

I equate it to Soul Calibur 4. When it’s the finally round and one person’s health goes below half, the game starts to play the most annoying music ever. I know I have to win. I don’t need the music to tell me. (yes music does speak to me an unfortunate side effect of …)

Well if I give you a kiss will it make things better? Just look at my avatar, you know that you want a kiss from a face like that

-Jimmy

What X-rated videos on youtube? I know they have a bunch of crap, but there are no X-rated videos. Those types of videos are against youtube policy. If anything like that gets uploaded, it gets removed almost as quickly.

You must forgive CD. He tends to live in his own little world. We all do… to an extent…

Edit:

Well if I give you a kiss will it make things better? Just look at my avatar, you know that you want a kiss from a face like that

It’s a start. LOL

I don’t watch y-tube.

By that logic, Google shouldn’t delete any of the inevitable pornography videos that show up on youtube. And when they accumulate views, they should let it get to the front page. I mean, it’s obviously what people want to see, right?

Wrong. This logic is flawed. It is entirely reasonable for Google to censor anything and everything if they so choose. They own the site, and they can do whatever they want with it. This is obviously a very utilitarian view, but I have yet to see Google censor or regulate something that doesn’t deserve it. They’re small censorships have been perfectly reasonable in the past, and it doesn’t seem to be changing.

From my point of view, there is a happy medium created when both sides fight for and against censorship; however, when things lean too far either way, things get ugly. You have revolts, rebellions, assassinations, world domination, nuclear holocaust… The list goes on and on (if you’ve ever listened to a policy debate).

I do; however, agree with hobo joe. The thing is, google can and should rightfully censor the occasional x-rated video because if they didn’t, they’d get sued. Also, allot of parents would be angry, they’d loose money, revolts, rebellions, assassinations, world domination, nuclear holocaust… (again, if you’ve ever listened to a policy debate)

but, I digress… oh, look… a butterfly

peace,
-nick

Admit it, you’re only asking because you want CD to give links.
