Yummy Donuts

I may not eat these But would you!

what do you think

Great work, Sebastian556911 however I do have a few suggestions for improvement. First let me say well done you nailed the icing on top of the doughnuts however the colour for the bluey-grey one in the background looks a bit off so perhps play around with that a bit. Secondly the actual doughnuts themselves look ever so slightly too glossy so perhaps tune the gloss down a tad. Thirdly the whole scene looks a bit dark, it appears that you have used one sunlamp in the background however would suggest using a few more warm-coloured area lamps in the foreground. Finally might i suggest that you alter the composition of the piece as it seems that there is quite a lot of unnecessary focus on the wood to the top left. Perhaps arranging you camera more overhead looking down onto the doughnuts would give the comp a nicer overall finish.

Other than that very well done and I was wondering if you could post a node-setup for you wooden panneling as it looks great!

Hope this helps ;D

Yeah i have to agree that right now they look more like candy donuts

Well, I wouldn’t mind eating those. But personally I prefer cream and red cherries(it MUST be RED cherries!) with doughnuts:D:p

What about this

I keep wondering if a simple photo could make a better job? Why do you guys try to mimic reality in 3D if a 2D can do it much better? I simply don’t comprehend.

Are you serious?

This is a website about blender artists meaning artists that use blender… To create art

and by the way the reason i try t “Mimic Reality” Is because i like to create and admire art and it is fun to be able to make a world the way you like it
not to mention that it is easier than actually having to buy the expensive equipment necessary To take a picture like the one i have created in blender

So please don’t post comments like that because it insults people like me who devote their lives to art and creation

There is much more in trying to re-create reality, than just pointing the camera to it and take a picture. Don’t get me wrong, photography is art in itself(I am a photographer), but creating it in 3D is a little bit like connecting your brain to the computer and download the pictures(that would be way cool!). So, your brain knows what it want, it’s just up to to figure out how to use the software correctly;)

@sebastian556911: How about a bite out of one of them and a few crumbs lying around?:eyebrowlift:

I completly agree and yeah i was thinking of having a partly eaten one but that would mean making the texture for the inside

Here is the final image

Hi so something i just realized and i know it has been a long time but no one ever commented on the final render… well here it is… comment away!

Donuts look great. Reminds me of Andrew Price’s introduction to cycles video.

I like the render before the final render, but I’d prefer MUCH more light in that one.

I think the final render feels weird because it has too much orange while the render before that seems to be more “real”.

Jup, i agree with patdngo here. The final render could need more interesting light. Apart from that this is a very good work already ( blenderguru rocks :RocknRoll: ) … Keep the good works coming Sebastian. Thx for sharing

Thank uuuuuuuu

To learn. Little projects to understand things.
A cube, Then a rock, then a donut, then glass with water, then a plant, a house, a car, a monster (really was an atempt to a man face), then a man, then a woman. Then you are modeling in some movie for Disney or Pixar.

I have never heard Truer words Man
Thumbs are up
