yup lot's of questions today-animating light

can i make appear and disappear as a part of an animation? what button? can i make it change it’s color too? can i make an object change it’s color as a part of an animation?

I’m assuming you know how to insert a keyframe using the ‘i’ key.

If you press the “i” key with the mouse cursor in the buttons panel where you set the lamp colour you will be given a menu that lets you keyframe the lamp colour intensity etc. Setting the intensity to 0 turns it off.

If you press the “i” key with the mouse cursor in the buttons panel where you set the material colour you will be given a menu that lets you keyframe the colour of the object, alpha etc. Setting the alpha to 0 makes the object disappear provided you have Ztransp enabled.

Try pressing the “i” key in other buttons panels (ie: world or anim) to see other things you can keyframe.

that was very helpfull! (if it works…) thank you! i’m off to check it now!

There is also an ipo for the layer. By changing the layer from a visible one to an invisible one or vice versa you can make objects/lights disappear or appear without changing their material properties.
