Tank wars is a two player top-down death match game, where the player with the most wits and the best tactics triumphs. Players must race around the map, dodging any hazards they may encounter and collecting health and ammo power ups to blast the heck out of their opposition.
Player 1 Controls: Arrow keys, / to shoot.
Player 2 Controls: WASD, Q to shoot.
Players must collect power ups for their health and ammunition
Players must watch out for hazards and enemies on the map as they race to win

Well… winning is easy, beat the crap out of the other player until they run out of health! And yes it’s one large screen, the tanks are pretty small, but it’s a lot easier both programming wise and gameplay wise to just have the one large screen… plus, I don’t thing I’ve ever heard of a 2d split-screen game?
I would think that left ctrl would be easier to hit than the “?” key. And I’m guessing that you mean the “/” keys as “?” would be shift+"/" . Good luck with the competition.
Hey. Simple and nice idea you have there.
… I just thought about… - inspired by your screenshots - have you considered using normal maps for those graphics? Everything should stay like it is (maybe little details here and there) but if you’d use normals and lights for explosions it might give some some nice effects (but there is one condition - lightning have to be set up perfectly - we don’t want to destroy current style/mood of your game - it should stay flat). It have to be tried.
