Oscar's rendering thread

Fantastic work, these are brilliant. i have tried many times to model a full car and have never really got past the chassis. great work.

Dat shape, clean!

Cheers mate!

Here’s a render of pranavjitvirdi’s Lambo. C&C welcome!

heueuey
it’s cool i like it,
and i’m here saying thank god its not the final version because you missed the door interiors!
which is funny actually! slightly

in the outliner the renderable option for those objects along with some otheres is unabled. sorry my mistake.

It IS the final version - I renderer it at 3000 x 3000 px for 18 hours.

but you missed tha door interior TABATATATABATA.
i don’t know much about Indiago. but some materials look unfinished here, the headlights can be metal or atleast not look the same as the dashboard material which is cloth like.

but the carpaint and lighting just are awesome… and i thought you said that you still have to make other materials.

I don’t think that the lack of door insides is that noticeable, so I’m fine with that.

With this car, I had to choose whether to built all the materials from scratch and do UV-mapping for hours and hours, or, just make the visual impact of the render strong enough to get away with leaving some of the materials as basic mattes, and saving a huge amount of time.

Maybe you’ll understand my way of thinking when you work professionally with CGI yourself, one day.

Thanks for the crits anyway, always appreciated.

yea man you’re right.
maybe i was hoping for something else but at the same time you might be busy with some other work you have on your hands.

if you do get free time in the future… please give it another shot.

Stunning renders, crongratulations.

Cheers mate!

I rendered a huge res version. Render time 125 hours on three computers. Shame I can’t upload it here!

What a shame. Render looks great!

Are you able to upload it to another host and post a link here? I’d love to see it!

Not exactly my best render to date - the composition isn’t great and the tires look like plastic. Also I forgot to turn the 16 bit mode on in PS so I got some 8 bit artefacts. Hope you guys like it anyway.

Thought I’d try a studio shot as well. C&C welcome as per usual!

BAD…ASS.
seriously man it makes me wonder… for how long exactly have you been into automobile rendering and what were your main sources of learning some crucial things along the way?

Too epic. How.

Thanks guys!

I’ve been active at 4-5 different forums for a few years, and I think I’ve simply learnt a LOT at car viz specialised places like smcars.net and cg-cars.com (which is now dead unfortunately). Nowadays I also try get inspiration from ads, magazines and movies.

Oh, and check out the front page for Indigo Renderer: http://www.indigorenderer.com

Flattering stuff!

No but seriously, are you really just doing this as a hobby, or do you do professional renderings ever? I feel like you could get work doing auto renders.
