$100 as top prize?

Is $100 CAD a worthwhile amount to pursue as a 1st place prize for a Blender contest??

Thanks in advance!

For someone residing in a non OECD economy I’d suggest probably worth the time and effort.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I was thinking the same. We (Society of Chess Aficionados) just don’t have the budget to do justice for those within the OECD.

And, publishing global street cred within the chess community (including ChessBase and FIDE), highlighting the place finishers won’t pay the bills … sigh.

Indeed overheads must be factored in especially during this current cost of living challenge most are facing nowadays and as an aside my nephew organizes a monthly meet-up, although I’m not exactly clear on specifics however the venue I believe is an inner city restaurant where like minded people can just hang talking or playing chess.

Yep, true that for sure. And kudos to your nephew! I’ve organized zillions of street level chess clubs and events too. The amount of effort is underrated and under appreciated too! So grats to your nephew on that! Chesstastic!

Clubs in pubs are my favorite venues, ha!

The dollar amount of the “prize” is probably decidedly secondary to winning it.

I once “won” such a prize at a charity event, and then walked over to donate it right back to the charity. It felt very good … I appreciated the recognition, but didn’t need the money. (They did.)
