 this is my 1st project. i recently downloaded blender and started workin on my own. this is the first sword that i hav made. plz suggest colouring texturing and lighting for the sword

When you are posting, if you scroll down to the “Additional Options” you’ll find a button called “Manage Attachments.” Press that button and a pop-up will open up that lets you upload images from your computer to BlenderArtists. There are some size restrictions (224KB and 1024x1024 maximum) and they have to be png, jpe, jpg or jpeg file types. If you haven’t changed any of your render settings, you’re probably ok.
If you look around the forums (try the search) you’ll find references to Joan of Arc. Its a rather long tutorial, but a good one, and the reason I’m mentioning it is Joan is holding a sword, and the tutorial goes into a lot of detail about modeling, texturing and so on.
