[2.83.2] Shade Smooth is Wonky (Recalculated Normals)

Heya!

Everything was going well till I tried to cut out pill shapes for the speaker grills in this phone mockup. I’ve recalculated normals, because I did have some that were off, but the problem didn’t go away. Shade Flat looks great, but this is a glass piece. It’s gotta be Smooth.

Any help would be appreciated!

Looks like going to Object Data Properties > Normals > Auto Smooth and checking that box worked. Just for good measure I set the angle to 89.9 degrees.

There’s other spots where I’m having the same issue but they’re more hidden so I’m good I guess.

Can’t seem to download that file but I would add another loop cut like the one at the top to hold that shape better.
