299 Tools v1.0.0 — Free Blender Tools for Figure 3D Printing

Hi everyone,

I’ve released 299 Tools v1.0.0, a free Blender add-on suite for preparing figure models for 3D printing.

The tools were developed from repetitive tasks I encountered while turning AI-generated figure meshes into printable parts.

Included tools:

1. Size from Head Proportion
Calculates the scale factor needed to resize a figure from its current head size, assumed height, body proportion, and target model scale.

2. Simple Pose Helper
Creates a simple rotation reference from a selected region, making small pose changes easier without setting up a full armature.

3. Auto Segment
Analyzes a single mesh and creates multiple part candidates based on thickness differences and concavity/fold information. Results are color-coded and can be re-split or merged before finalizing.

4. Surface Bridge
Creates an adjustable curved surface between two edge paths along an open boundary.

5. Freehand Cut
Draw a closed outline directly in the viewport and use it to cut the mesh. The affected faces can be checked before deletion.

6. Backface Check
A quick way to inspect reversed faces using Blender’s Face Orientation display.

7. Clearance Boolean
Creates controlled clearance between parts intended to fit together after 3D printing.

299 Tools has mainly been developed and tested with AI-generated figure-shaped meshes. Auto Segment is not designed for hard-surface models.

Current test environment:

  • Blender 5.0
  • macOS
  • Mac mini M2
  • 16 GB RAM

Windows and Linux have not yet been tested on actual hardware.

299 Tools is free for personal and commercial use. Works created using the tools may also be used or sold freely.
