Hey all!
So, I’m in the middle of a project in blender where i’m trying to make it look like a 2D anime, but with the freedoms of 3D. I have my model here:
But, it isn’t rendering in what would look like 2D…
I’m looking for it to look like this, this, or this, preferably the first and third ones.
I assume it’s a shader setting, or something in cycles, both of which I haven’t used much, if at all.
You might be looking for, say, the “Toon shader.” These would, for example, remove the present highlights on this lady’s shoulders, arms, buxom, and right foot. This would probably be a good start.
But also, when you start to go down this particular path, you should consider what animé artists are presently doing: what “camera angles” are they using, or not? How are they compensating for “the flatness of the printed page” when hand-drawing their characters in “not 90º to the camera” poses, given that they do not[choose to …] have access to actual computer/3D technology? Your final work-product is going to be judged against such standards, even unconsciously(!), “by the Gentle Reader’s™ instant eye.” Even though you have “all of Blender at your beck-and-call,” you’re going to be producing computer-rendered work products that must be acceptable against hand-drawn 2D art.
