2D snap in Blender?

Any way to do snap in an orthogonal viewport without the object or point moving also in depth?

Restriction works too with x,y,z + shift keys in ortho!?

Thx, will try it.

drag the gizmo via the square that represents a plane. If you drag the gizmo via the centre/circle it will 3d snap.

Is there a way to get this square in the gizmo without clicking the Move-button? Using G won’t show the gizmo and in the viewport gizmo settings is no checkbox for that.

Yes there is.
Active the Move option in the Gizmo drop down menu…

Add it to the Quick Favorites Menu for easier access. Add to both object mode and edit mode QF menus.

That gives only the arrows, but not planes. At least here in 4.0.1.
I’m using Move, Rotate and Scale in the Gizmo already.

You should have the planes with the arrows, if you don’t use Rotate gizmo.
The ball for free rotation is overlapping squares.
If you have Move and Scale enabled, squares can only move, not scale.

But arrows may be sufficient. If you press Shift while clicking on an arrow, transform should be similar as if you had clicked on a square.

Disabling the rotate gizmo - that’s it! Thanks a lot!
With all three modes enabled I can scale using the squares and move using the arrows as I would expect. The planes appear as soon as I disable the rotate mode.
