32-bit to 64-bit

Hello,

I’m moving a project that I’ve been working on for a while from Windows XP 32-bit, to Windows 7 64-bit, and I have a few questions.

When I install Blender 2.49b on the new OS, should I install it in the (x86) program folder, or plain old “Program Files”? When I eventually export the file, it will go into a format used for a 32-bit program.

Thanks.

You can use blender like a portable app the .zip one and the installer only if you want to have asigned .blend files to blender directly. It is better if you use experimental blender builds to use the .zip and for stable installer.

Does not matter where you install blender.
