To be honest, I wasn’t familiar with DOSHI until he passed away last January. It was while watching retrospectives dedicated to him on this occasion that I discovered his work. DOSHI then appeared to me as a resolutely free and modern architect, while at the same time being very respectful of the millennia-old culture of his country, India. So I wanted to do a personal project of one of his buildings, which was actually his personal residence, KAMALA HOUSE, built in 1959 and named after his wife.
