Hey!
I’m looking for 3D Environment / Background Artists to join an independent animated short film I’m currently producing.
The film is a ~15-minute animated short set in alternative version of Warsaw’s underground system. A group of graffiti artists plans to paint a Warsaw Metro train, but the arrival of a new member creates tensions within the crew.
It’s a mix of graffiti, hip-hop, drama, action and comedy, made for an adult audience.
THE PROJECT
The important part: this is already a real production.
Check out the animatic with english subtitles. LINK BELOW.
The script is finished, character concepts are prepared, the first act already has an animatic, and I’m currently putting together the voice cast.
I’m also collaborating with real Polish graffiti artists and musicians, whose work will be part of the film.
I’m now moving into the environment production stage.
WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR
I already have a fairly extensive mood board and visual direction for the environments, as well as 3D blockouts of the scenes.
The layout, camera positions and main elements are already there.
What I need now is to turn these rough scenes into finished environments:
-
3D modeling
-
props and environmental details
-
materials and textures
-
set dressing
-
graffiti and surface details
-
creating the overall gritty, lived-in atmosphere of the Warsaw Metro
I’m not looking for someone to simply follow a finished concept 1:1. There’s room to make creative decisions and develop the look of the environments together.
I’m looking for more than one artist, since there is quite a lot of environment work to cover and I’d rather build a small team than put the entire workload on one person.
Blender is the main software I’m working with.
WHY JOIN?
This is a passion project built with the goal of becoming a finished animated film, and I’m looking for artists who would like to genuinely contribute to its visual world.
You’ll be joining the project while the environments are still being developed, so you’ll have room to make creative decisions and leave your mark on the final look of the film.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
-
work on environments that will appear in the final film
-
help shape the visual identity of the world
-
work directly with the director
-
be credited in the end credits
-
use your finished work in your portfolio / showreel
-
potentially continue working on other environments as the production develops
The finished film is also planned for animation and film festival submissions.
This is a non-paid collaboration. I’m being completely transparent about that from the start. I’m looking for people who are personally excited about the project and would like to create something together.
INTERESTED?
I’m much more interested in your portfolio than your CV.
Email me your **portfolio, ArtStation, website, Instagram or any environment work you’re proud of.

You don’t need years of professional experience. What matters most is your work, your sense of design and whether you feel like a good creative fit for the project.
If this sounds like something you’d enjoy working on, I’d love to hear from you!
