3dsmax preset issue when starting blender

Hi,

I have installed blender in my system, which has windows 8. I am trying to select 3dsmax as preset, but nothing happens after I select it…I have tried selecting MAYA and its the same…cannot see any change happening. Wondering if I am making any mistake. Please advice.

Also would like to know how I could set 3dsmax as my default preset.

What change are you expecting to see? The presets do not chnage the appearance of blender, only the key controls
