Just wondering if anyone has had any troubles using 4x1gb sets as opposed to 2x2gb, as you can get problems with using all 4 ram slots in certain mobos. Apparently the intel 965 chipset doesn’t handle it so well. I’ve already ordered 4x1gb corsair xms2 ddr800 myself and will be using it on a p35 board which is supposed to handle 4 dimms better. So was just wondering what other people’s experiences were. Also if you use 4x2gb give us a shout. Hell even if you have 4x512mb sticks.
I’ve got 4gig in my system at home using a 965 chipset MB and I’ve had no problems what so ever with the system. I’ve use both the 32bit and 64bit versions of XP.

Cool, good to know - it’s hard to find solid information on this sort of setup, but one would assume it should be fine considering the motherboards come with 4 slots, so you would expect to be able to use them. That said, I have read some forum posts of some people needing to reduce timings or bus speeds because of instability when using 4 sticks of ddr.
It is still recommended to go for a 2x2 setup if possible as it puts less load on the chipset and uses less power. That way you can up to 8gigs one day too heh. I would have done it, but honestly I couldn’t find sticks of ram from good manufacturers with good timings in 2gig form.
i965 chips are not as good as the new P35 chips when all 4 slots are populated. I am not saying they will not work, but P35 will just be better.
I’ve managed 4x1024 on a Gigabyte DS3 rev 1 (965 chipset) board at 333mhz fsb sync. 4-4-4-10. although with any of the two sticks, i can hit 400mhz fsb.
