5 Minutes Rage

Hi! I can finally share something about the project we’re working on. It’s called 5 MINUTES RAGE and it’s done entirely using free software, U4, Gimp, Krita, Inkscape and obviously the one and only Blender! We’re entering the beta phase, so if you want to try yourself you’re welcome

In the next days I’ll share more about the development, but meanwhile check out the trailer, done using the Blender’s VSE.

Looks SICK!

Love the poster. Really nice art direction.

Max Headroom much ?

Yes! I don’t why, maybe something subliminal, but it stuck in my mind for all this years…

The backgrounds!
I start from sketching on paper to see what comes out, I’m searching for a mood, a glimpse of something and I don’t care at all about being clean and precise.

Then I usually open blender, hoping that I’ll manage to make something of the ideas I had sketching

When I’m happy with what I see, I throw there some lights an materials and do a render. After this I do an overpaint with krita. Somethimes is a total overpaint and i use 3d merely as a base, somethimes I only do little tweaks, It depends on what takes less time for the better result.

We wanted to make the backgrounds pop out and don’t look too flat, so Mattia (the Programmer and Shader Master at Indomitus Games) made a shader in U4 that takes the image of a rendered scene and reprojects it in 3d, using the depth map

We’re happy with the result. In the game the effect is subtle, but works well

If you’re interested on how it works, it’s somewhat like this

And all of this ends by being covered by the foreground!
