The model was based on a Pratt & Whitney Wasp 9 cylinder radial aircraft engine from around 1925. The images were rendered with cycles at 200 samples and it took about 18:30 hours for each view. The model is not an accurate representation of a specific engine as there were not enough detailed images available so I used parts from a Wasp 1340, Wasp Junior R-985 and a Wasp R-2000.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 18hours for each frame at 200 samples only! loooooooong render time! how many poly?
nicely done though…
hopefully its something like 50 bil polys… which would explain 18h…
Nice renders! The colors and materials look pretty realistic!
im guessing they took longer to render than to model
Beautiful work!
Thanks, I’m working on a GeeBee Model R-1 and will be using this engine.
Great! GeeBee is a very funny airplane, and looking at this engine I am sure that you will recreate its every detail :). This engine is really a top-class model.
Very well modelled! Good job!
Nicely done.
I appreciate the feedback, Thanks!
Looks great!!
Would love to see a tutorial on how you modelled this.
Very well done.
I’ll try to find the time to create a tutorial, Thanks!
i would love to see the GB! but that would probably take 48 hours to render
i agree that it has amazing detail
