I think your on the right track, but the main things that are holding back are, the lighting and design.
The lighting looks super flat and lack any real interest.
(I found this video super useful for a basic product photography setup, he explains it all really well! https://youtu.be/dPLNNlL3OIw?si=GXSdiGdhDa7aoENU )
Your roughness is also way to high for a metallic wrapper, it also lacks the distinctive creases and folds as well!
With the design of the packaging, have a look at some actual chocolate bars and see if you can copy elements off there. Even just some basic typography and colour theory would go a long way to elevate the realism.
I think the basics are all there, it’s just that final 10% getting the presentation down that’s really gonna sell it!
I will be honest. After I posted, I had a facepalm moment. When I started looking at my reference image, I forgot to add the creases and folds. After that, I forgot that there was a glossy BSDF node that I could use. As for the lighting, I did not want to overcomplicate things, so I decided to stick with a basic usual 3-point lighting scene setup.
All that being said, I watched the video. It makes a lot of sense now, thank you.
in this case, i would probably just play around with the metallic value, roughness and bump/normal map. a medium contrast studio hdri from poly haven should be enough as a light source.
for the values mentioned above you can use noisetexture, which you can distort with various transoform nordes to achieve the desired effect. that would be my first thought and that’s how i would try it.
