I don’t know. I could go for a Cars 2. Heck, I could go for a Shrek 6 for that matter. I thought 3 was quite a stretch, too, and not nearly as good as the rest of them, but that had to do with the writing, not the IP itself. Sequels can be good as long as they are written well. At some point, though, it seems that people start being willing just to cash in on the franchise instead of making something of quality. Maybe that won’t happen. (…btw - Toy Story 3 does NOT need ot be made).
Yea, what they are doing at Dreamworks is ridiculous. So many sequels makes it crap in the end. As for Pixar, they definitely need to stay away from the sequels as well, although Toy Story 2 was pretty good as well, and Toy Story 3 will most likely be just as good. I’d rather not see Cars 2, Cars is my least favorite of the Pixar movies.
The Shrek milking will not be unique, I read on a website that the head of Dreamworks wants 5 more Kung-Fu Panda movies made, so it’ll become a movie with sequal after sequal like Shrek.
Does anyone realize that it’s been nearly ten years since Toy Story 2 (and when it’s released, it’ll be 11)? Making a sequel after all that time isn’t pushing it. Toy Story 2 actually surpassed the first, so I can’t wait for 3.
Now, churning out Shrek and Kung Fu Panda sequels? Yeah, that’s pushing it. The second Shrek was junk, the third was worse. What do they expect to happen other than bankruptcy?
I’m not actually sure that Toy Story 3 is Pixar’s fault. The head honchos at Disney know how much money established franchises make so they actually commissioned a studio other than Pixar to make it and they started making it and Pixar thankfully stepped in to take control over it.
I imagine it’s the same with some of the other animations. Shrek 3 didn’t need to be made and wasn’t all that good but I’m sure it lined someone’s pockets. It’s a sad reality that no matter if there is a collection of some of the finest talent in the world, they will likely still be controlled by a faceless money-grabbing organization and the people who run it.
The bigger the studio/organization gets, the more desperate they are to make money no matter the cost to uphold their empire. I doubt smaller studios like Blue Sky studios have as strong a need as this so they can afford to spend the time making better films.
Five Kung Fu Pandas?! That’s bad. . But yeah, now these companies are just churning out these movies like they’re nothing. Has anyone seen Space Chimps? The toys and the video game came out before the movie even hit theaters. Now I’ve gotta admit Wall-E wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. But they should really take a break from these 3d movies for a while. First Kung-Fu Panda, then Wall-E, then Space Chimps, now these thousands of spin-offs. . But that’s honestly the trend nowadays if you haven’t noticed. . Take, for example, High School Musical (YUCK!! LOL). After the first movie came out, a Nintendo DS game came out, then the talking toys, then HSM 2, now a reality show about singers playing the characters and singing their parts and HSM 3, then if I’m not mistaken, it’ll become a series if it becomes successful enough. I didn’t even like the first one, and now it’s all I hear about. .
Toy Story 1 is the best one…i am 13 now and ill still put it in my VHS player…yeah i said it =)…the second one i didnt like it as much.just cuz the story was kinda lame…the 3rd one will be ok…i guess its not made by the same people???
Cars is a good movie.they could make a 2nd one but Shrek 4? 5??? no…they were all really lame and id have to shoot my self after i watched the 4th one…if i did watch it…
5 KUNG-FO-PANDAS??? was it that great??? iv never seen it…
What if - KFP became a generational legacy thing, ie each four or five generations a new KFP comes along, so we can have a Samuel L Jackson Panda, a Keanu Reeves Panda…
There’s that many?! I remember the first few that i watched when i was like 5.
Why make 5 Kung Fu Pandas? I’ve never seen it and haven’t heard anything about it being that good. Toy story was awesome when i was little. I don’t remember anything about it though. They really need to get some more ideas for some movies.
Pixar is what it is because they weren’t afraid to innovate. Their falling into the Disney formula would make the animation world just a little darker.
5 KFPs… hmm, ask me again in a few years, but only if they have a good story in their hands. The same goes for Toy Story 3. I wouldn’t doubt it if it was a sequel to The Incredibles though. Shrek 4? I doubt I’ll watch. I fell asleep halfway through the third one, for crying out loud.
I saw Kung Fu Panda and enjoyed it very much. I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be that great, but I came out of the theater pleasantly surprised and somewhat inspired in my Blender work. I wouldn’t mind seeing a sequel, but five?! What is this? Rocky? I have no problem with sequels if they are done well. Shrek started out great and I actually prefer Shrek 2 over the first, but I thought Shrek 3 was pretty bad and don’t have very high hopes for #4. I would hate to see that happen to Kung Fu Panda.
