My work of this week (once I’m back to work at a print shop/factory I will publish way less, hope I’ll find some time and energy to keep on practicing) : a turntable.
I made kind of a mashup between a Marantz 6300 for the main case, and the BST PR78 I have at home for the buttons, knob and lever.
For non-french speakers, some translations/explanations about the texts I implemented:
I changed the Marantz logo to “marrant”, it is a french word that means “funny” and I found this, well, funny.
Translation of the text inserted at the centre of the record : “Germinou - Vinyl records are too expensive. Legal notices lorem ipsum afterwards I don’t remember I didn’t go through latin classes in high shool I don’t even know what it means. Totally irrelevant but please remind me to buy a new soap, the one I’m using is drying my skin too much.”
A very quick bonus with the printed record sleeve I drew so fast there is a typo in the title (double space somewhere) which is unthinkable for someone whose job is to print stuff, I am both ashamed and indifferent to be honest:
I like it, but not a hope in hell that I would ever put any of my records on it (even with the AT stylus) LOL. I’ll stick to my Technics, if you don’t mind.
@Roken I guess you are thinking of the needle? That’s the part I didn’t really know how to draw, so I did it as I remember 78rpm players needles were, it almost was a trauma when I saw one for the first time
@Withers99 maybe on weekends’ mornings, mornings are my favourite moments to draw, first thing after breakfast these days.
You guys and girls prefer drawing at evening, night or morning ?
Ha ha, it was the 78 RPM needle, and to be honest, that’s the main place that your model falls down. Have a look at some reference, and I’m sure that you can improve the model. But even with the best stylus, I still wouldn’t put my records on it. That’s not your fault as the artist, I just wouldn’t play my valuable records on a suitcase player.
I updated the mesh based on your useful feedback, @Roken , and came to something like this, which details cannot be seen but erases the original design that felt “off” and brought some strange feeling.
