A good glass shattering method?

Does anybody know a good way to make glass shatter? I’m trying to have something big go slamming through a window, but I can’t figure out how to get the explode modifier and the particle system to work properly for something like that.

Did you watch the video? I haven’t been brave enough to try it yet cuz it seems to be a bit hap-hazzard in the explanation.

I tried that but I couldn’t get it to work. I had a sphere with animated IPO, collision enabled, and I had a big subdivided plane with the particle system on it (reactor, start on collision) and yet the sphere would pass right through it. Even when I baked the animation, nothing happened.
