A hidden base in the crater

A base hidden in a tropical crater. A little inspiration from Supreme Commander.

Octane, Gaea, Geoscatter.

I’m just starting to learn Gaea, and the texture of the stones was made by the displacement. At first I thought it would be better to do it through adaptive subdivision in Cycles, but when blender froze after applying subdivision, I didn’t wait and went to try it in Octane. Perhaps by changing the process I would have gotten the result I wanted in Cycles, but Octane was still able to do what I wanted even when I thought it wouldn’t work. 3 Levels of sabdivision for vertex displacement, for 550k polygons of the original mesh.

And a little bit of process.
