A hungry Piranha Plant

I wanted to play around with Blender 4 a bit, so I loaded up a project that I have been tinkering with for a long time: my Piranha Plant.

I re-worked materials (again), rigged the plant, and made some adjustments to the lighting to look better with AgX, and this is the result!

I rendered a second 360-degree version of the same idle loop here:

As mentioned above, this model/scene was created over the course of many versions of Blender, but I touched things up and rendered this version in Blender 4, with Cycles. No post processing, outside of assembling the frames in Adobe Media Encoder.

If Mario games were 3D and Photorealistic, a realistic Pirahna plant chewing and eating a photoreal Mario might strip the game of its E-rating.

It looks horrific without being gruesome, the animation especially shows this has been executed well.

Thanks! That’s what I was going for, with attention to the rounded teeth/lips and overall still-cartoonish look. I wanted the materials to have a somewhat realistic appearance without looking grotesque.

Maybe I’ll put it in a pipe someday and have it eating a Goomba.
