A loop cut is not working

Hi, trying to learn the blender from a simple tutorial from the linked in learning.
And I stopped at the step of the loop cut, which from the original video when trying to loop cut a hammerhead, the loop line should across the whole head. But on mine, it is not working.

It works but works like the image above. Which doesn’t link in the middle and won’t make any loop cut in the two middle faces.

I tried the ‘merge by distance’ as well but it doesn’t help.

I am sure there is something that I’m missing something, can you lads please help?

There may be interior faces created by accident. Select>Select by Trait>Interior Faces. Delete them.
