a new feature in blender

Something I’ve been noticing recently is the banding of color gradients (visible well in RipSting’s most recent image). Is it a new thing, or are colors always like that when monochromatic?

Are you sure it’s not your display colordepth that is set to 16 bit?

Martin

The color banding could also be caused by the jpeg compression.

I’m afraid that this isn’t an option with the current script’s status, as it only can collide with spheres and there is no feature to ‘pull’ the cloth along as they put it. As I understand from the webpage it is still under developement, so hope is not lost for you.

Heck, the simulation calculation can’t even be saved into the .blend file as AVKs yet. I will check periodicaly for developement on this, but not bother to download until it is a plugin with real functionality.

I have playing with reflections and raytraced shadows. And again: this is incredible. I can’t believe!
So thanks to developers!!!

One thing I thinking about: how can I use a texture to set the reflections? There is a REF button that is works on envmaps, but not works on this raytrace reflections.

Patience my friend.

… I just had to do it

Kino has a VERY good question and I was wondering the same thing…does the new feature render shadows through alpha’s? If not thats cool…I dont want anyone to think that I am bitching about a wonderful gift, I am just curious since I havent had the chance to use it yet (I am at work right now actually). And if anyone is wondering, yes this queston is regarding the alpha cards in “beast”! Man this is an awesome addition to Blenders toolset! Have fun all, I know I will!

Cheers,
Landis

Ooooooo…I almost forget…has anyone really messed with the new cloth script much because I heard that it currently only works with spheres, anyway around this because the AIRMAN needs a cloth-like uni!

Later, jets are comin’ down, gotta go.

Cheers,
Landis

Please don’t slap me, but this is the very first time that I’ve gotten any sort of reflections to work…

For the love of God, not in the face!.. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyhoo, what is that refraction slider for in the material buttons under “Blinn” shader? (Don’t rush, it doesn’t seem to work…)

i dunno if i’m the fist to say that even if I’m reading this post since the first reply, but it seem no one have pointed out that now all lamp produce shadow with this option
see the next picture render with the new raytrace option on, you got the spot on the right, pretty easy to notice but i also added a little lamp with raytrace option on the left for a diffuce light and a saw the little line of shadow going down the screen. I think you’ll notice it too. Guys, i’m very impress cause this feature was so wanted.

Nice render Gabio. Try a lamp with R 1.000 G 1.000 B 0.900 for a sunlight through a window effect on your scene.

yes pretty nice, with some good texture uv mapped and now the raytrace shadow this begin to feel a bit realistic isn’t it? Blender can do realistic photo.
(edit) i think i will work this scene out a bit more, check out the work in progress section.

:o :o OOh guys, just 2 days not on elysiun, and 5 or 7 days not on blender.org, And I missed this all, darn, where was I. I download the blender version now, I can’t wait to see this all. btw, is it my eye, or are some of the renders a little messy? I just see some wrong pixels, or is this because of low OSA?
