A Pretty Normal Lamp On A Pretty Normal Desk

Hey there
I created a normal lamp on a desk and I’m not sure if i should make an animation or something like that, so i simply ask if should go ahead. I’m not really satisfied with the material of the lamp stand. Perhaps you can tell me why it doesn’t look that real.
I also used the translucent material of cycles the first time, so please excuse me some issues
Well, here it is. Hopefully you like it.

Hey!
I really like it. I’m not quiet sure about the lamp stand… maybe it’s just a little bit to big?
Another thing I noticed is that the shadows of the wall look a bit too much like a flat texture.
All in all, nice work!

well, the stand seams a bit big indeed  I’m going to change it soon.

I think that the issues with the shadows of the wallpaper solved now.

I think the wall is a bit too normalized now. I have the same problem, overnormalizing everything.

I chose a value of 5 this time. Probably you are right. I’m trying it a third time xD I’m going to use a value of 2 or 3 this time.:stuck_out_tongue:

well, i set the value to 0.5  Hopefully it looks better now:)

final version. what do you think?

I like the wall much better now and I see that you also managed to get the lamp to look more interesting
But I think that the scene could be made more interesting:

  1. The lamp is too centered (in my opinion). Use the “rule of thirds” to make the image more interesting.
  2. Add more objects. At least something on the wall, a nice painting or something like that. And maybe more objects on the desk, too. I was thinking of a downscaled version of the old Mercedes that should be in your object library, if I’m not mistaken
