A spooky man of mine, help please

I have been working on my second model (first being from a teddy tutorial)

I am quite happy with the head now (thoughts?)

But I think the body is now looking to square and blocky. I was wondering what you thought I could do with it.

Regards, Glenn

Ok first, I think this should be posted in the “Focused Critique” forum or “WIP” forum not here.

But we all make mistakes :frowning: so no problem.

Your model has a style! If you were to animate this dude, inside a world which matched his body style (a cartoony square and blocky world) then that would be a great animation! So, good model.

Now if you’re asking how to get rid of the square blockyness, I’d suggest sculpting perhaps? Or using proportional vertex editing to puff out his chest? Either would work.

Just an idea, if this was my model, I’d keep him as is, and use him as a abstract human. Too me, he looks really cool! Like the fact that his arms and hands are like TOTALLY out of proportion. And his head is great! He would make a good Frankenstienish monster!! Oh man you could have fun texturing him.

Just some things to think about.

Oh sorry, did not notice it was on the wrong forum.

Thanks for the comments. I think I might leave him how he is then, I grown to like the body a bit more.
Now I shall just have to learn how to texture things properly now, and hints for a good tutorial to learn from?

Thanks, Glenn

Hmmmm I can’t think of any texturing tut right of hand…

This may help --> http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro/UV_Map_Basics

Just google “blender texturing tutorial” and you will get results!

For starters, you actually might want to use vertex paint. This lets you ‘paint’ color right on to your model. This will help you with vertex paint (though it is a little outdated) --> http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:Manual/Materials/Vertex_Paint

Hope this helps.

Cool thanks, I shall take a look

Hey there again

I have added some colour via vertex painting.

What do you think.

P.S if a mod wants to add this to the right place please do

WHooa!! FUNKY!! Love it man! Great job on the vertex paint.

Just one thing, make the feet smaller so it looks good together with the hands (which are also small).
