(note to moderators…feel free to move this to a more appropriate forum if you feel it is misplaced)
I used the Marquardt Beauty Mask (a facial overlay based on Phi mathematics that people find visually appealing) on this model to see if there was any truth to it. The mask can be found here http://www.beautyanalysis.com/index2_mba.htm
There are pages talking about the formula 1.618 in relation to the mask and human beauty. Follow my link in the first post. There is a mask for smiling, racial slants, side views and lots of picture references. With links to more sites talking about 1.618 (PHI).
It’s an interesting idea, but you’ll notice that the face must be tilted down in front view in order for their numbers to come out so neat. To use this in 3d modeling, you’ll probably have to rotate the side views of the faces to match the downward looking front views.
Topic is evolving I guess. But I am trying to UV wrap this head and getting it down better, but texturing is a whole new animal to me. Here is the latest.
As you can see, I lined up everything fairly well but I have new questions. Notice the highlights on the nose and lips and how they are gray…why are they gray? They are white on the source image.
Also, is there a tutorial somewhere on how to make a custom skin texture for UV mapping in gimp? Seems like I am doing an awful lot of pulling and pushing pixels around to get a sloppy result.
