Can you clarify which bits are modeled and which ones are photograph?

Hi Bart, sure, the robotic parts are all modeled in 3D. The dress and background are a photograph. I did build a reference dress in 3d to get the right bounce lighting on the objects.

Very nice blending. How did you match the lighting? Did you make an HDRI map at the site?

Stunning piece!!

thanks Jerry! I’m a big fan of your work

Thanks so much. I just used an HDRI that matched the lighting conditions. I tried with different ones until I found one that worked just fine.

One more question, how did you make those photo-realistic fabrics??
That looks amazing!

If you search for Retired Unit on Blender Nation, there’s an article I wrote on which I describe a similar process to mix 3D with a photograph. Cheers

the fabrics are actually part of the photograph. I only build some reference one to get the wright lighting bounces on the 3D objects.
