Adding a bend to an object

Hi there

I have just finished creating a 3d mesh of a simple pencil, I am now trying to bend it so that it looks like attached image. I have searched around but not been able to find out how to do it successfully. When using ‘simple deform’ modifier it does not create the desired effect and just messes everything up, I have also tried creating a bezier curve in the shape i want and then deforming with the curve modifier but that does not appear to be working either.

Can any one please advise on how I could achieve this? Any help is much appreciated :slight_smile:

Make several dozens of loopcuts across (Ctrl-R) and pencil mesh will do what you want. Probably apply Scale and Rotation before you start to use Simple deform modifier (Ctrl-A in Obj mode, select needed).

Alternatively - use curve initially, shape, add Curve Bevel an convert to mesh Alt-c. Model ends after.
