I’m trying to place a lamp on the ceiling, and to cut into the ceiling I added a boolean. Everything works fine, but when I try to copy it 4 times, the entire ceiling surface gets distorted. I tried duplicating in Edit Mode, then with Shift + D, and also with Alt + D, but none of these options helped. What’s the reason this is happening, and is there a solution or maybe a better way to do this?
Apply one at a time, see if that helps
Each boolean modifies to polygon structure of the object, adding extra edges to make it work. It could be creating a structure that’s not friendly to further booleans.
You could try changing the boolean solver, sometimes one will fail and the other work depending on the situation.

Are you sure the boolean is the thing that’s failing? This looks like what I would expect if the boolean itself did work, but the shading or texture got messed up as a result. Is the ceiling shaded smooth? Did the boolean mess with the UVs?
It’s hard to say exactly what happened. I would try applying the modifiers, then take a look directly at the resulting mesh to see what’s broken.
I managed to solve the problem, but not with the things mentioned above. It turned out to be something very basic, I simply separated the ceiling from the wall. I wasted so much time on such a stupid mistake. It seems that the boolean breaks when there are too many different faces on different axes…
Anyway, thanks for the help.
Yes… booleans are some fragile beasts ![]()
