Affinity - Something Big is Coming 9 Nevember

Motion GFX App???

Hope so- my guess would be they’re aiming to round out the rest of the Adobe suite with Premiere and After Effects. Of the two, I’d prefer an Affinity AE, but I would guess it’ll be Affinity Premiere

Besides the 3 Affinity apps finally reaching a nice, souped up 2.0, my guess for anything beyond that would be a Lightroom alternative. They’ve stated in the past that they’re primarily focused on graphics design and photography, rather than video, so it’d make more sense for them to release something akin to LR in their lineup.

Though they did tease some 3D painting capabilities for Photo here about a year or so ago, so there could be something there as well.

Secretly, I’m hoping for Linux support. I CAN DREAM!

It’s A.I. related

Seriously?

I think they bought twitter. :joy:

There’s a good chance, honestly. Photoshop has AI tools now, and it would be easier for them to pull those over than make a whole new software

Hopefully, there’s a little more to the big 2.0 release than that.

But, the brush tool is slow and choppy.

I’m praying for a name change. I can’t market this thing to people without being able to verb-alize the names. We can “photoshopit” but we can’t “a-ff-in-it-y-photo it”

I got a word that the big news is that they’re switching to a subscription model… :fire:

Just kidding…

Not sure either of those 2 options would be a good move. I maybe a little out of touch, but I don’t think the After Effects market would be big enough to support a direct competitor.

As for Premiere, they would then be competing against DaVinci Resolve and the free version of that can already do so much.

I know what I’d really like and would very likely buy on the spot, but it’s totally outside of there general area and that’s an Audition competitor.

Last time I checked, Audacity was OK-ish, but it still didn’t stack up to Audition. A $100 perpetual license that keeps getting free updates and basically feature matches with Audition would be awesome. I’m not talking those music/sampling sequencing, etc type audio software, I mean just like Audition, a single/multi track direct audio (WAV) sound editing and processing tool.

Still, not going to happen.

I wish someone would just remake the basics of Cool Edit Pro within Blender as the Audio Sequence Editor.

That or they have it running as a webapp.

Yeah, or something like that. It was of course Cool Edit Pro that Adobe bought and turned into Audition.

May need a few more features then old Cool Edit Pro, the noise reduction and some filters, etc are really nice when editing less then ideal recordings.

Yeah lets hope so. There was some info about 3D painting in the making a while ago. Perhaps they rival Substance Painter now.

If it can bake all the various maps from inside the app, and has support for all of Photo’s layering tweaks, it could be pretty interesting.

Most likely (what do you expect, not what do you want)

  • Affinity AI
  • Affinity After Effects
  • Just improvements to existing software
  • Affinity Lightroom
  • Complete rebranding/product redesign (ala Facebook/Meta)
  • Affinity Premiere

@Metin_Seven not quite betting, but it’s something

What if it’s a mix of two categories? Like Affinity Lightroom, with AI enhancements?

I voted for AI, as an After Effects clone would require a whole lot of coding and human resources. It would be an epic undertaking.
