I cant seem to get the colors that all these youtube tutorials get although im following the same steps it always look washed or greyed out to me. im trying to get those beautiful realistic colors and crisp contrast but i dont know what im doing wrong.
Any suggestions?
These are my settings
And your settings are not set to agx…
If you dont know something you might want to search for a solution… How to install AgX…
Here i did the work for you this time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68xlyvRewKk
That tutorial is for cycles, however I am using octane render which requires to set the native color management to raw since octane has its own color management settings in the camera imager. This video is irrelevant
No shit sherlock… how about you look up on how to do it in octane?
AgX will look more washed out - even with the “Punchy” look. Similar to how Filmic looks more washed out than a straight sRGB rendering. I don’t use the “Punchy” look and my results are even more flat. It’s all about preserving the tonality of the rendering. You have to get the contrast back into the image in postprocessing.

So my settings are correct and its just how the transform itself looks
My goal is to reach the colors that Greyscale gorilla achieve in their render viewer, i know they use ACES tonemapping but even if i tick the ACES tone mapping in the camera imager it never looks the same although im using the same materials
If you use the addon version of Octane, the ACES checkbox doesn’t work at the moment.
Overall I suggest that you use the PixelManager package for your color settings. It includes AgX, ACES, Filmic and many more options.
You can download it here … https://github.com/Joegenco/PixelManager
Where did you get the Greyscalegorilla scene for Blender? I can only find a C4D one.
i exported the scene as fbx and added the material included in the free scene file when you sign up to their website, basicly i did it the manual way

yes i heard its in beta so few features are unavailable yet but i never knew about Pixelmanager. imma give it a try. The color management in general is an ocean of information and whats sad is that resources and tutorials on the internet are limited
Currently im on the modded version of octane not the addon version i will make the transfer once its stable
You’ll find a lot of stuff here …
