Airbus Sidestick

Hi

This is my attempt at recreating the Airbus sidestick in blender. The sidestick is arguably among the most defining features of the Airbus cockpit and is found throughout their aircraft product line. A320, A330, A340, A350 and A380 all use the sidestick (Albeit minor differences in the later models). The red button is the autopilot disconnect switch.

This was also a first attempt at realistic materials - I used the pointiness node to achieve some of the wear and tear on the sidestick. I struggled getting the correct look for the rubber boot as irl it has a sort of speckled look although it is often hardly noticeable.

The main render was done with 1200 samples, the rest were done with 300.

Thanks for looking - any feedback is greatly appreciated!

The mould partition line in the rubber is such a nice detail. I never seen one of these irl so I cannot give other fedback than say the whole thing looks great!

Thank you! Iā€™m not sure if I can link an image of the real sidestick here - The mechanisms behind it though are fascinating to read about!
