Started making a combination of the Manta vehicle in UT3 and a space shuttle. Focused on the shape of the body.
Good start. Is this something you designed?
Partly. I’ve found a messy drawing of 5 concepts of spaceships and took ideas from them. Now I’m adding only my ideas.
Compelling silhouette, very aggressive and pointy, really nice! can’t wait to see what this turns into!!
Just like me ^^ Even I don’t know what will this look like.
Looks pretty nice, but i just look at this model and in the back on my mind i know that the wings will definitely break off b/c of the tiny connections to the body.
Naah I don’t think so. I didn’t even start making the connections of the wings and the body, the gray material is just a placeholder. I plan on adding some hydraulics or so so the wings could move up and down just like a manta’s wings. Also it’s not meant to fit into real physics Blades like these couldn’t take off a big body like that.
Omg lol the linkages are even smaller… this thing is gunna crash and burn
I’ve seen those linkages before, they’re those new type which have magnetic reinforcements aren’t they
Also in space G’s are different to the pressure differentials applied here in Earth’s atmosphere… Then again those hover props do look like they would only be of any use in an atmosphere…?
Anyway I like it for a fantasy piece… very graphic!
Didn’t have more space for bigger linkages but thats why i love 3d, I don’t have to stick to physics.
Note that the linkages are not finished yet, they will be bigger a bit(when I learn how to rig).
I have no idea what am I doing.
Progress so far. Some extra decoration. Fixed the position of the objects. Experimenting with rigging.
Long time passed since I last updated the thread. Learned few things about bones and armature and apparently solved the problem. Some details added, divided the parts with materials, added armature.
Tilted pose to take turns.
Imo looked way cooler before. Now its just stupidly fat. Change it back to the slim airship it was. And check those materials. Turn the green and purple into red and make the grey colour whiter. Make everything glossy and you have something badass
+1 to what TheNewGuy said.
I didn’t change anything on scaling… Only perspective change.
Agree.
Interesting concept shape - ridiculous outside ‘fantasy’ scenario.
I want to add hydraulics and stuff but rigging it is a bit complicated for me. I guess i found a viable solution but can only check it tomorrow.
