All kind of maps

I am sure a lot of people know the “texturing for dummies” paper that Leigh wrote (available @
My question is… how can I create the specular, reflection, and all those kinda weird maps :smiley:
I know howto create the displacement, and bump maps… but the others… dont know.
Could you clarify me about that?

They all work the same way… the closer to white the color the more the bump (or disp) and so the closer to white the more the Ref, Spec etc, and when you click the Mapto button so it turns yellow it inverts the values so black will now reflect and white will not.
Cmir, RayMir, Alpha, Emit and Transl are not covered by the above explanation.
