Hey all, I was in the process of moving from 5.0 to 5.1, and I’ve noticed some strange behavior that happens on 5.1 and 5.1.1–even if I have only the default scene loaded, when I simply close Blender, I get a “Blender has stopped working” crash report.
Thoughts?

Hmm, if the report crops up when you close Blender maybe blender tries to save a “quit” file and for some reason fails.

Try running blender using the command promport.
Even if the blender is terminated, it will still be recorded.
Or it could be an Addon issue, which is also a record.

Will do! I’ll let you know how it goes. Addon issue seems like it could be the problem…

Why do you think it would be trying to save a “quit” file?

Blender always does save a “quit” file in your temp folder when closing. As the warning says
It sounds like Blender was trying to do something before closing and failed.

Gotcha, that makes sense.
I’ll keep messing with it. Just strange that it never happens on 5.0, which makes me wonder about the Addon idea

Still happening in 5.1.2.
I’ve included the crash report here if anyone can help make sense of the issue.

Is the version of the Lens Sim addon you’re using compatible with 5.12?

That’s what I’ve been wondering too, Lens Sim…they claim 5.1 on Blender Market, and I’m pretty sure I’m on the latest version, but I’ll double check that real quick

Okay, when I try to disable Lens Sim in my Addons (uncheck it), I get the same blender crash notification and blender closes. Interesting…

I also tried actually uninstalling Lens Sim via Extensions–worked normally on 5.0, crashed Blender when trying this in 5.1.2

I reached out to Havard Dalen about the issue–waiting to hear back.

UPDATE:
Got it all working. Havard said because of an API change in 5.1, I needed to update to 3.2.1 but only after manually deleting the old Lens Sim files from the 5.1 folders.
Worked perfectly.
