Alpha channels exported with Render


Is there a way to save a render from Blender with an embedded Alpha channel?

It can be done in 3ds max and is very useful in compositing (you can cut out your rendered objects very easily). Is there an option to do this in Blender?

In F10, Render tab, use Premul or Key and in the Format tab set it to RGBA and select a format that supports alpha.
