Not sure about any tutorials, but adding subsurface scattering to the snow part of the material will soften the shadows there, and affect the color depending on the settings you use.
…so i made a short preview of the terrain imported into the engine (torque3d / beamNG.drive). i have to admit that working with that engine is a pain, there are a lot of issues, shader related, flickering shadows, workflow - related freezing of the editor, material problems, etc. etc. etc. thought it would be fun but other than that, it’s just a time consuming nonsense. but nevertheless, here is the preview:
started out nice, but becomes a real pain at the point of importing to the beamNG/torque3d engine. i think i’ll take a dive into unreal, can’t stand the buggy unprofessional manor of the engine used by the beamNG game. nevertheless, i would like to send you the source of the lidar data, mybe you could use it for your projects too. but unfortunately the personal message function of this website, which was present in the “good old days” of this site, is gone. so at this point there is no option for sending you the information unless you (temporarily?) add an email to your account profile where to send a message.
no, unfortunately not. i had to create a new account, since my old account wasn’t accessible anymore. maybe because of that i cannot send messages? i thought this function is gone. nevertheless, if you send me a message, can i reply to it although i cannot send a message to you?
