Hey Everyone,
I’m slowly plugging away on a short cg video of an alternate history Star Wars moment. I’m essentially recreating the scene in which R2 and C3P0 land on Tatooine in the escape pod – except with a few twists. In this version:
- C3PO is a cyborg and more closely resembles the original Ralph McQuarrie concept art.
- The empire arrived in time and wreaked havoc on our mechanical heroes.
- A barely alive C3PO crawls away from the wreckage.
I haven’t figured out a final animation for the damaged cyborg yet (the current pose is just temp bullshit). I thought crawling might be interesting, but then you don’t really get to see much of the armor. So far I’ve animated a more subdued limping walk thing. I’ll post that soon for feedback. I’m imagining the pod will be engulfed in fire and smoke (still learning how to do that properly (any tips would be great). I’m very new to 3D – only a first year student – and been at this for approximately 6 months. Let me know if you have any thoughts about final composition (keep in mind its going to be a nice steady cam style movement (maybe just moving from a wide angle in towards the moving cyborg), the smoke and fire (thinking nice dark thick smoke and a little fire) and anything else! Thanks!
