Alternative to lamp data nodes?

Hey hey people, I’ve got a wisdom tooth erupting badly and it impedes my reasoning.

I made a material that takes the vector and color of a lamp and uses it to create some kind of faux lens flare. I slapped it on a plane, sent it to an overlay scene, everything works as intended. Now the problem is I had to duplicate a sun lamp in order for the node to get any info, and it’s really killing my framerate.

So, can I do it without the nodes? Getting the lamp’s color is simple enough, but I also need the dot product of the plane’s normal and light direction so the lens brightens up when you look at the sun.

Any ideas?

Can’t you just LINK the same object between scenes

P.S Try 2 Wisdom teeth at the same time
