Ambient occlusion brightness baking??

I was trying out the new adaptive AO, which is awesome!! But its still to slow for an animation…
My question is; AO is lightning right? Is there a way to bake the AO lightning, and not just the grey stuff?

AO isn’t light really. You can bake AO add method. Maybe that is what you need.

Well it lights up my model anyways :o

And it makes it quite more realistic, but i tried to bake AO, and apply and map to “amb”, but nothing happens?

Okay, ill explain it more clearly:

I had this scene: (Only the stair, and walls are finished textures)

And, i heard about this new AO, and decided to give it a shot, ended up with this, and i was just whoa! This is really good!

Although, the rendertimes was not very good, so i decidede to try to bake it, i applied at as color, both tried add and multiply as the manual says:
Add:

Multi:

But none of them looks good!!:frowning:

So:
How can i bake that AO, and save the “look”??

I figured its these highlights that makes it ‘realistic’

Did you bake just AO, or the full render? Can you post the resulting baked image?

Baking ao is a multiply against the color mapping. As far as the extra light you should see brighter areas when the multiply is applied.

Sure:
AO MAP:

i think i understand now, my bake is quite dark, so when i multiply it gets even darker… hm, how does the render engine apply the AO, anybody know?

Besides, im experimenting with Gamma correction (2.2), can this influence the AO?
Im trying to brighten the bake…

(By the way, the scene is lighted by a singe area light
AND, i didn’t use the adaptive AO, i was using the “Approximate”, my bad)
