Ambient Occlusion noise?

Can anyone explain to me why im getting the noise im getting? Ive tried cranking the samples up from 6 to 20 to 30 and theres no real change. Ive tried checking and unchecking the Ambient Occlusion tab in the World tab, but it doesnt seem to matter. The screenshot of the problem im having should be attached.

I could be wrong, but my guess is that because of the bias value. How’s the result if you set the distance to something like… 0.5 or 1, and set the bias to 0 ?

Thanks, i just tried distance 1, bias 0 and its like maybe 10% better but nowhere even close to acceptable.

That’s strange. Usually when i do baking, i just let the settings to the default, set the Fallof to a low value like 0.1 or so, and just played around with the distance value. The only time i got similar result like that, was because i set the bias more than 0. So my final suggestion is just play around with the distance value. If that’s not fix the problem, then i hope other forum members can help you.

Oh, maybe it will help others if you post another screenshot displaying your hires model and your setting of the ambient occlusion under the world tab.

I finally got it working again and solved it for now. You were right, i set the bias to .1 and changed the distance until it worked. That picture is at 0. I changed it to .1 and it looks great and smooth now. Thanks!
