Amilcar C6 (Cycles)

Excellent work congratulations!

What is your lighting? I was looking just the other day, at the architecture of GM’s Detroit car exhibit auditorium, known as the “Dome”.
Built in the 1950’s to the design of Eero Saarinen the room is still considered the ideal environment for showing cars, mostly because of it’s lighting. It was renovated recently, in 2018.
The lighting is basically indirect from a suspended hemispherical dome (the principle was kept in the renovation).

Wow that’s a cool building, I had no idea about its existence. Indeed, this lighting setup seems to work really well, and seems to require almost no tweaking - which I like a lot. Definitely worth trying out in 3D.
In case of the Amilcar project, I used a simple studio setup - a curved white floor, black background and a couple of area lights + supplementary spot lights. I find the result slightly boring, so I will be happy to experiment with the Dome in my next attempts. Big thanks for your inspiring input

Complimentary to the lighting there are other true Genius moves, note the floor in the middle being shiny, standing out by contrast to the matte (carpeting) around it, just takes the car center-stage in an ideal place. And then there is the row of cars by the window also with a vault indirectly lit.

I really like the scratches and blemishes on basically everything… that’s a lot of work to unwrap, or did you just triplanar the lot?

The model is partly unwrapped (body, dash, seats, tires, some metal elements), but most shaders indeed contain box mapped textures.

Thank you
Yes, the next one will most probably be the Jappic. But before that, I would like to convert the Amilcar to mid poly, texture it in Toolbag or Painter and see how it works on Sketchfab - so still some time to go before this project is fully finished.

Merci !
Oui, j’ai eu beaucoup de chance avec les photos de référence - heureusement, la Amilcar est très bien documentée. (Étonnant !)
