I’ve been thinking about a possible Blender video editing feature or addon idea, that would greatly speed up my workflow in creating tutorials and video content.
Since I edit long format video tutorials with Blender, a feature that would greatly speed up my workflow would be an option to control the playback speed in the timeline or sequencer, to help me edit videos much faster.
It could just be some simple buttons, like in YouTube’s video player: 0.25× 0.5× 1× 1.5× 2× Or it could be a percentage bar. Here is a basic visual idea:
The audio would also need to speed up, just like if you are watching a video in VLC or YouTube at high speed, where it speeds up the audio without making everything sound high pitched.
This would massively speed up my video editing workflow, as I have to watch through hours of my video content and edit out mistakes and pauses.
After filming a multi-part tutorial series or a long video for my YouTube channel, I often spend multiple days just video editing my content.
I summited this as a feature request on Blender Community, but I doubt it would become a feature anytime soon, as they have probably hundreds of feature requests summited. But if you like my idea you could upvote the post here.
I was wondering if anyone in the community has any idea if this could be made into an addon. I have zero experience with coding and so I have no idea how hard it would be to make and if its even possible.
This would be a huge improvement to my workflow, so I’d be up to working closely with an addon developer, or even hiring them to make the addon if that’s what it takes. But if it could be a totally free addon for anyone the community to use, that would be awesome too.
